Today Microsoft announced the alpha of Popfly, which is both an online tool to easily create mashups and Web pages and an online community to share your work. This is an invitation-only alpha for now, but there is a waiting list you can join. Even if you can't use it just yet (I haven't--still waiting for my invitation:-) it looks like something really cool to check out. Popfly features some cool Windows Live integration: you can build mashups using Microsoft Virtual Earth and Windows Live Spaces features and content, add controls to access Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Spaces Photo data, and turn Popfly creations into Spaces Gadgets. The demo shows how you can create compelling mashups in just a few minutes. Also, it's built on Silverlight. John Montgomery, the Group Program Manager for Popfly, has more over on his blog.
Here's the official description from the site:
Popfly is the fun, easy way to build and share mashups, gadgets, Web pages, and applications. Popfly consists of two parts:
- Popfly Creator is a set of online visual tools for building Web pages and mashups.
- Popfly Space is an online community of creators where you can host, share, rate, comment and even remix creations from other Popfly users.
